Hi! I'm Thao. Today, I want to show you my feeling, so I decide to write this letter for you.
First of all, I admire you vry much because of your character. Although you're under curse which began with your"no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing-great-great-grandfather", you're still good and you also have fortitude to overcome difficulties and problems. That's great. But why didn't you deny and protect yourself when you were accused of stealing a pair of shoes donated by basketball great Clyde "Sweetfeet" Living to a celebrity auction. In court, if I were you, I would protect myself. If I were you, I would stand up and tell the truth instead of agreeing to the judge's decission. You oddly blamed the whole misadventure on your " great-great-grandfather". I don't know why you didn't blame the judge for falsely convicting you. In my opinion, that was not fair for you. Your " no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing-great-great-grandfather" was not good, maybe. But I think people shouldn't look at that and then comment that you're not good, too. The judge didn't believe you at all. It's unfair. I think you should present to prove that you're innocent and of course, you don't need to go to the Camp Green Lake.
These just my own opinion. In brief, I always support and second you. The work at Camp Green Lake seems hard for you : digging holes which are five feet wide and five feet deep everyday. Let's try all your best. I hope that you can show your ability someday. People will understand you. Try all your best, ok?. Best things and happiness will come to you because you deserve this.

PRESENTATION

1) My topic is 'Cuisine'. I choose this topic because of two simple reasons. First of all, I love eating. Moreover, I want to know more about the wayS how to make good and healthy food for everybody and my family. That's so great :)

The name of encyclopedia is : ' FOODS AND NUTRITION ENCYCLOPEDIA ' (I-Z). This book was published in 1983, vol.2. The authors are: Ensminger, Konlande, Robson.

When I read this book, I can learn a lot of things from this. I've known that: Cooking is not only the science of making raw food to be more nutritious. It's also the art. In my opion, food will be more delicious, flavorful and attractive if when you cook,you add your love, your attitude, and your smile into it.
In fact, raw fruits and vegetables are good for you, but they're easier to eat and more appetizing when they're cooked. Therefore, there are some reasons why food should be cooked:

• to make foods have nutritive value.
• to make foods to be more delicious, attractive, healthier.
• to develop the flavor, or to add the flavor.
• to destroy the bacterium that is not good for our health.

2) My subject encyclopedia is 'chocolate'. I can learn a lot from this subject. I've known some informations about chocolate such as: the origin and history of chocolate, harvesting, the process to make chocolate, some kinds of chocolate, and chocolate nutritional value.

3) There are 2 types of encyclopedia : general encyclopedia, and subject encyclopedia.
General encyclopedia tells us about the topic or a lot of different fields in general. Otherwise, subject encyclopedia tells us about each title clearly with a lot of main and supporting details. Subject encyclopedia is more helpful for us to find informations or details about the title. In my coming oral presentation, I'll talk about the origin of chocolate: where does it come from?,...;nutrition and health benefits of chocolate; some kinds of chocolate. I also want to talk a little bit about the signification and the meaning of chocolate in our life. But I haven't found this information yet, because I don't know where it is :(

6 DIE IN WISCONSIN SHOOTING( by Robert Imrie)

SUMMARIZE:
The article is about the shooting rampage on early Sunday at a home in Crandon, a small town in Wisconsin. The culprit was Tyler Peterson. He is 20 years old. Peterson has a full time job as a Forest Country deputy sheriff and a part time job as a Crandon Police Officer. In his friends' opinions, Peterson was so nice and they wouldn't think he could do that.
According to the article, Peterson killed 6 people and critically injured the other. All the victims are students and some of them are recent graduates. They were hospitalize in nearby Marshfield. Three typical victims are : his ex-girlfriend, Jordann Murray,18 years old; Bradley Schultz,20, a third-year student at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. And the youngest is Lindsey Stahl, 14 years old. Her weeping mother was so sad and she wished that had just been a bad dream..
When the accident occured, ome neighbors said that they had been heard probably 5 or 6 shots, a short paused and then 5 or 6 more. After that, they had heard the sirens,too.
This was such a tragedy . And everyone in Crandon was facing.
MY OPINION:
When I read it, I was so affected, because the victims were so young. they were in high school. And I want to share the sorrow with their family. This was such a terrible tragedy. So I hope that 'll never happen in the future. I hope the Presidents will have more policies to protect their residents and more strict laws for the "crazy person". And I also hope that everyone in Crandon, especially victims' family will have fortitude to overcome this fact.

MY BOOK

A SEPARATE PEACE (by John Knowles)

SOMETHING ABOUT MY BOOK:

This is a story about the relationship between some schoolboys in Devon, the boy's boarding school which is sometimes considered the most beautiful school in New England during the early years of Word War II. They're Gene, Phineas(Finny), Bobby, Leper and Chet. Gene is lonely, introverted, intellectual. Phineas is handsome, taunting. The book tells us what happened between these boys, their feelings, their friendship. It also expresses their both best and worst characteristics


WHAT I HAVE READ:
The book begins with Gene who looking back on his last year at Devon. He came back to Devon, his school. And he realized that there were a lot changes with his school. The school was newer, but he thinks it looking oddly newer than fifteen years ago. He didn't like its new appearance at all.
He went around the school and felt sad. He started his long trudge across the fields and he saw the tree which had attached with his childhood. And the memories with the tree appeared on his mind. On the summer day, Gene and his friends went out and took turn to climb the tree, but there was a small accident when they played.
After that , they continued their trip with a lot of beautiful sight. Then Gene and Finny came back to their dormitory when it became darker. And they missed the dinner in school. On one day later, they must explain why they misssed the dinner to Mr. Prud'homme. And Finny told to him. Everything he said was true and honest ....
MY OPINION:
It's so difficult for me to read and understand this novel because of so many new words with a lot of meaning so I must choose the best meaning. It takes me a lot of time:( . 30 pages per week, that's too bad. But I don't give up and change my mind. I still want to read it. Because I'm a high school student and this book will be helpful to me, a high school student, to know the dark side of adolescence and their feelings during the World War II. I think I'll know what the real friendship is. When I read this novel I can image and enjoy some beautiful pictures with a lot of lively and wonderful sights. It's so interesting. I hope that I can improve my vocabulary and my reading comprehension in order to read faster, enjoy and understand it clearly (100%). I hope so. :(

My opinion

I think it's very necessary to tap fund for helping people attack to difficulties.
The government should have more good policy about this problem to save for hard times. Preparations must be prepared carefully.

It also gives the idea from Olympia - Washington residents, the government and their plan, preparation, their trouble saving for the budgetary rainy days that roll around with regularity for 'rainy day'. The article says that Democrat Gregoire and a large majorities of the state House and Senate propose a mandatory fix that will occur on the November ballot. On that day, they'll discuss about the decision for a 'rainy day' fund that would build up to $1 billion or more during good times and the money could be tapped by simple-majority vote in Olympia during recession or other disasters like earthquake, terrorist attack,etc. And the article also says the new plan is essentially enforced discipline, to smooth out peaks and valleys. According to the writer, contributions would be automatic and the cash would be pretty much off-limits. The system will be set in concrete.

Hi, everybody! I'm Thao. I'm 17 years old. I've just finished 11th grade in Viet Nam. There are 5 people in my family : my grandmother, my parents, my younger brother, and me. I love them so much. I like listening to music and traveling. I love traveling cause it'll help me widen my knowledge and i can learn a lot of things such as: cultures, languages, etc... from trips. In my free time, i usually read comic books or go for a walk. It's very interesting. And i like collecting stickers, too.
My favorite color is blue because "blue" means "sad" ( I'm so shy, don't believe in myself and sometimes cry easily so i think it's suitable for me ;)). " Blue" also means "hope". And i hope that my two dreams will come true:
Becoming a great businesswoman is my first dream. Moreover, i want to be a millionaire like BILL GATE ;).Secondly, i wish i could touch the snow in someday;).

Now, i miss my family so much but I'll try try all my best to make my dreams come true. My parents will be proud of me. I hope so. Finally, i also hope that in the future, i don't like "blue" anymore. My favorite color will be "red" because "red" is a color of happiness. I want to receive happiness and bring happiness to everyone, especially to my family.
